Isn't if funny how something that is really awful bring about some really good things? About 4 years ago my Dad had a massive heart attack and we are very lucky to have him still with us. But even better, as a result of that event (and a few others stressful times along the way), my relationship with my mom and sister has gotten closer. Not that we were distant or didn't like each other before, but now we talk much more frequently. There's a lot more checking in and seeing what's going on.
If bad things have to happen (and apparently they do), I'm thankful for silver linings.
