Football Awards Night

Last Thursday night was the fall sports awards night. The celebrated the accomplishments of the football, volleyball and cross country teams. It was a long night.

First, each coach had some time to say a little something about their teams and to say their thank you's. Then the passed out their two main awards, which are voted on by the team members themselves. They aren't the typical MVP awards (and what they stand is up for debate). They are: 'Total Release' and 'Mighty in Spirit'. It was nice that they awarded these in front of all the teams, since right after this we broke up into the different sports groups.

We were pleased when our favorite JV football player was honored by his teammates with the 'Mighty in Spirit' award. His coach talked about his positive attitude, his hard work. I wasn't at practice to see what his teammates saw, but did see his dedication to his team. About half-way through the season, he starting filming the varsity games (and loved it). Once the JV season was over, Justin stayed after school to help the coaches out during the varsity practices.

Way to go, Justin!

After this, we broke up into groups. The football/cheerleader group stayed in the gym. Each coach talked about the boys he coached. 2 hours later, at 9:40pm, when they were having the coaches play a game to get their gifts, we had to call it quits (or else I wasn't going to be able to work Friday) and we sneaked out the back. We weren't the first and I'll bet we weren't the last.
