Painting Justin's room - part 1

Yesterday, we cleared out Justin's room and started painting. The colors? red, while, and blue, of course. Justin was a big Star Wars fan who loved to draw clone troupers, that is until Sept 11th. After that tragedy, he was quite patriotic and became a red-white-and-blue boy. All his drawings were army, tanks, bombs, and they were always labeled with who was the good guy and who was the bad guy. Even now, almost 7 years later, he still is. He has even been given awards in his history class for bringing in historical information about US wars and military weapons.

We've got a total of 3 walls to paint. One is blue and the other two will be alternating, horizontal stripes of red and white. The last wall is brick and it remains unpainted. We'll also be adding to the blue wall, 50 white stars. We're not sure if we're going to just by them pre-cut at Michaels or make them ourselves.

Grammy and Pappy came over to help us paint. We definitely wouldn't have gotten as far as we did without their help!

We spackled, taped and painted the primer and the first coat of color.

I got paint all over my hands as the little sponge brushes that we used for edging broke and we needed to stretch the blue primer that was in them just so we could cover the entire wall. We only made it because of that since the roller brush was done when we had a 1ft by 4ft section of the wall still yet to be covered.

We sent Grammy (who was the cleanest) had to run up and get more blue. They must not have mixed it well, because it turned out to be a darker blue and it had streaks of white as well. I ran up today to have it shaked again. Since we are going to do 2 more coats of blue, we didn't worry about the difference in color that is already on the walls.

We are not painting today. My poor neck/back/legs cannot take it. But, I did take Tuesday off from work to finish. That is a lofty goal. Most likely, we'll have paint next Saturday as well.

God is really only another artist. He invented the giraffe, the elephant and the cat.
He has no real style, He just goes on trying other things.
