Tuesday night was Spring Sports Awards Night at school. Can't you just tell that these three are trouble?
Jeremy, Justin, and Andrew were the three freshmen on the golf team this year. There were a few JV matches so they did get playing time, but who can pass up free golf 4 days a week? Not Justin!
I just have to say that I am very proud of Justin for sticking it out during the tryouts. 17 guys started out in the beginning. Justin didn't feel like he would make it, but he kept going to the practices. And by the end of the 2 week try out period he brought home the school golf bag because he had made the team. I was so proud of him.
He's a great guy (but you knew that).
So, back to the awards night, the guys on the team were asked to say something about the season: something funny, embarassing, etc. There were funny stories, good imitations. When the assistant coach came up, he first had to draw on the white board and then he told us this story...
Not sure which match, but the tee box was right in front of a ravine that was pretty deep. On the other side was a steep bank and rocks on the top and finally the green on the other side. A certain player was ready to tee off and he topped the ball and it was a line drive straight into the raveen. No chance of recovering from this shot because of how deep the raveen was. But wait, the ball just happens to hit the cart path and shoot straight up into the air and then (oh my) it hits the rocks at the top of the other side of the raveen which bounces it even farther onto the green, closer to the pin! The best played shot of the day! Three guesses who this player was!
Of course, there is more to the story that just this. This player then 4 putted (and for those of us that don't golf - that's not good). Oh, well. I don't care - he still is my favorite golfer on the team.
I think the neatest thing that the coach did was have all the players sign 3 balls, one for each of the coaches.
But the best part of the evening was Patty Gallagher's fresh, homemade cinamon rolls! Heaven for this carboholic.
