Pixie's Blanket

IMG_3092I have finished up the little blanket for Pixie.

It is a fairly simple pattern using 3 colors of yarn only because I didn't have enough pink for the second square. I used Bernat Cottontots yarn from my stash. This was what I used to make a blanket for my niece Zella. I don't have enough to make another baby blanket, so a mini blanket for Pixie was just the trick.

My goal was to make 1) a blanket that was reversible and 2) square. I didn't measure exactly enough to get the square, but if you want a square blanket, use the second set of numbers (in parenthses) for the repeats.

Needles: size 8
Gauge: 4 ½ sts and 6 rows per inch. Actual guage isn't crucial.
Overall size: 17 ½ in by 13 in.
Yarn: scrap yarn. If using 2 colors, both must be at least half a skein of Bernat Cottentots. If using 3, your main color (A) will have to be at least half a skein and the other two can be less. I used Strawberry, Grape Berry, and Sunshine.

Pattern:
Cast on 40 stitches of color A, then cast on 40 sts in color B.
Row 1, 2: With color B, K40. With color A, K40.
» Row 3: K4, K18, P18, switch yarn, K18, P18, K4
repeat row 3: 20(24) times
Row4: K4, P18, K18, switch yarn, P18, K18, K4
repeat row 24: 20(24) times Cut color B. Do not cut color A.
«

row 5: With color C: K4, K18, P18. With color A: K18, P18, K4
repeat from » to «
Knit two rows, then bind off. Cut all yarn and weave in.

One satisfied customer!

I only post patterns that I have personally created. By all means, use them to make anything for yourself, your bff, your Aunt Clara (she did make you that nice bunny suit), the neighbor's dog or to line the bottom of your bird's cage. That's why I posted them. And since it never hurts to ask first, please shoot me an email, leave me a comment, or mail me a nice letter (bonus points will be awarded for pretty stationary, unique-yet-readable fonts, and complements of my children or pets) before using of any of my patterns for professional use. All this really means: don't use my work to make money without first asking me. I don't bite and I'm up-to-date with my rabies shots, so send that email on over and ask already.
