We had to say good-bye this past weekend to my father-in-law, John, who passed away 2 weeks ago on February 6th.
John Jesse Nettles Sr. was born in Summersville, Missouri 69 years ago, second to the youngest of 11 children. His family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1951 when he was 13 years old. After graduation from Phoenix Union High School he married his sweetheart Dorothy Nelson and enjoyed 49 years together. John and Dottie prospered in north Phoenix raising three sons, John Jr., Kevin and Keith. He was a career fireman with the Phoenix Fire Department. He retired as a captain after 23 years of service. John also built and operated Penguin Air Conditioning, which was a very successful family business. He was very close to his family and friends, but especially close to his four brothers Larry, Tom, Granville and Clinton, who stayed in constant contact with each other throughout their lives. John was blessed with a large, loving immediate family which includes his six grandchildren: Jason, Jesse, Michelle, Leah, Justin, Emma and four great-grandchildren: Tyler, London, Chase and Presley. He was an active member and elder of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where he spent many years of fellowship and service. John enjoyed a rich and full life. His many hobbies included taking friends to breakfast, winning at slots, traveling and promoting his granddaughter's music career. John passed away, surrounded by his family, on February 6, 2008. He will be greatly missed by all.

We will all miss him so much....I know I will. He was touched by so many people. I miss him so much....
