Its hard to believe but here we are at the last JV football game of the season. And last Monday's game was a good one!
We went back to Submarino's for our dinner. It is a family favorite and we've gone back several times since the last football game.
Before last Monday, Leah had not yet seen her brother play football this season in person. When she was in San Diego, she did get to see a few clips on the blog, but that was it. But since she came home, she hadn't been able to see him play. Over the weekend, she came down with what we thought was strep (diagnosed a little too quickly in urgent care) and she came to the game with 2 1/2 days of taking antibiotics. She was actually feeling quite rotten and laid down the entire game until Justin went in on the point after attempts, and Keith helped her stand so she could see her brother play.
We took her back to urgent car on Tuesday night and this time an actual test was done and we found out she had mono and not strep. Good news was she didn't have a disease that is airborn contagious (and thus infect everyone at the game - whew). Bad news is there is nothing you can do but let it run its course. Keith insisted on pain medication, which was a good thing because not only did her throat hurt but her side (where her spleen would be) hurt too. She is doing much better this weekend. Her turning point was Thursday where she started to talk less like she had marbles in her mouth.
Emma and Me
Justin is a team player and is much more concerned about how his team is doing and how the referees are calling the game than if he plays or not. Both Keith and I each had a parent come up to us to tell us how they really enjoyed Justin's sense of humor that day. He certainly is a character.
This game was a nail biter until this series right here. Both teams had scored 2 touchdowns but we were down by 2 since we failed to convert both of the 2 point conversions. Here is where we held their offense and forced a turnover (why didn't they go for a field goal?). After that, we scored 3 touchdowns one right after the other.
And after the last time we played this team in the freshman game, this win was quite sweet.
You gotta love supportive parents making the tunnel for after the game. The boys, even though they are in high school, still love running through. I've even heard of some of them running through a second time just for the fun of it.
At the end of the clip, you'll see a younger brother of a football player run through too. He's at all of the games and he's about the cutest there is.
The cheerleaders were at the game and brought treats for the boys. A rival was beaten and a loss was avenged.
All is right in the world.
Veni, vidi, vici.
