In fact, we were a little more lax in the hiding of Easter eggs this year.
![almost a hole in one [IMG_0478]](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8008/7150758923_69344da379.jpg)
Our philosophy this year was to let the kiddos run around the yard. The littler ones could stay closer to the food and the older ones had to jog for theirs.
![R was quick to find his 12 [IMG_0480]](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8011/7150782437_b38d38ce83.jpg)
Ryder found his quickly.
![Sometimes he was just too quick [IMG_0481]](http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7240/7004701686_5003aa643d.jpg)
And, sometimes, Ryder was just quick himself...

Chase, on the otherhand, has his own approach to the hunt.

The kiddos found their 12 pretty quickly and soon we had one left to be found so we all walked around the yard to help Chase to find his last Easter egg.

FOUND!

Next year, we might have to put the $$ in the eggs because all of them checked inside to see what they got.
![handing out the goodies a la Papa [IMG_0502]](http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7127/7004766066_c90558aaa3.jpg)
The most important tradition to me is keeping Papa's reckoning going. He would make each Easter egg color worth a certain amount and then calculate the amount that everyone would get based on what you brought to him. Every year, the colors and amounts changed so you never knew what was what. It's even possible that he made it all up on the fly.
![C getting his reward [IMG_0504]](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8153/7004882246_ea39156c19.jpg)
And, so we try each year to do the same, in honor of Pop.
![T checking in [IMG_0511]](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8159/7150980187_c3ced473ff.jpg)
I'm not sure I want to change that tradition. Maybe we'll throw a little candy in the eggs and have the accounting? Or tell them about the accounting before they search for the eggs? I'll have to think about this...
![Z gets her due [IMG_0515]](http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7133/7004897728_c6748e726c.jpg)
But, by the end of the reckoning, everyone got a little bit of change and everyone had a smile.

The reckoning.
And, of course, we totally missed these guys.
I lied on my Weight Watchers list.
I put down that I had 3 eggs...
but they were Cadbury chocolate eggs.
